The Greatest Show on Earth
I rose from my slumber to witness the sun smiling from a million miles away. The skies were a clear blue, as if they had been swept clean the night before. Trees danced, swaying back and forth, though their partners remained unseen. An ant, on a journey unknown to me, scurried across my window ledge with its load in tow. Birds sang, their harmonious notes carried by the gentle morning breeze. A majestic deer peered out from beyond the walls of his forest castle. Shrubs, kissed by the midnight dew, glistened like diamonds. As the morning breeze caressed my face, I inhaled deeply. I smelled the scent of jasmine. My breath steadied as my chest heaved, my senses overwhelmed. In the calmness that preceded the morning, I could hear my heartbeat in tune.
I often marvel at my existence, curious about my origins, my creator—or creators—or lack thereof. With the fast pace of society today, most of us drift beyond the confines of a mind that constantly races, ruminating on past failures or future fears, leaving little time to be present. We should slow down, enjoy the company of each other, listen to the heartbeat of a loved one, and delight in the beauty of nature and the abundance that surrounds us. To bear witness to life itself is to witness one of the greatest shows on earth. Life
